GERMANTOWN, MD -- Real Maryland is excited to announce that midfielder Pablo Gomez has arrived in Washington D.C. Wednesday and is joining up with his Real Maryland teammates for training within the next few days.
The Argentine, who is the younger brother of former MLS MVP and Colorado Rapids midfielder Christian Gomez, joins Real Maryland from the youth system of second division Atlético Nueva Chicago, one of the most popular clubs in Argentina despite little time in the top flight, in Buenos Aires.
The 21-year old Gomez touched down at Reagan National Airport at 11:45 this morning and came right to the Real Maryland office to finish up all the necessary paper work.
“I am excited that he is arriving and anxious to see how he meshes with his new teammates,” said head coach Silvino Gonzalo. “He will start training with the team on Thursday.”
Gomez is expected to compete for time in an already talented midfield. Gonzalo has yet to indicate whether Gomez will be included in the 18 man roster for this weekend’s trip to Cleveland.
Real Maryland travels to Cleveland this weekend for a Saturday night rendezvous with the Cleveland City Stars. The Monarchs return to the Maryland SoccerPlex Saturday, May 17 for a 7:30 PM match-up with the same Stars.
