WILMINGTON, NC -- The Hammerheads have once again reached agreements with a player whom has Major League Soccer experience. Head Coach David Irving was able to sign forward Jamie Watson pending USL and USSF approval.
Watson spent two seasons at UNC Chapel Hill where he was named Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Year. After two seasons with the Tarheels Watson was drafted 13th overall in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft by Real Salt Lake where he spent three seasons and then he had a one year stint with FC Dallas.
Watson has spent time in USL previously in the Premier Development League, playing for the DFW Tornados in 2004 and the expansion Austin Aztex U-23s last season. Watson tallied seven goals and three assists last year as they won the regular season division title. He previously had three goals and three assists in five games for DFW.
Watson also has been a member of various US National Teams including being a starting forward for the 2003 Under 17 World Championships in Finland. He also spent two years at the US U-17 Residency Program.
